Sebastian Pagni, MD
Dr Pagni is board-certified in both General (ACS) and Thoracic (ABTS) Surgery. A 1989 graduate of the National University of La Plata School of Medicine in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr Pagni completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the Hospital of Saint Raphael at Yale University, New Haven, in 1996. He finished a clinical/research fellowship in Cardiopulmonary Transplantation and New Therapies at the University of Louisville. He received further Cardiovascular Surgery fellowship training at the Instituto de Cardiologia at the Hospital Espanol de Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1999. His Thoracic Surgery Residency was completed at the University of Louisville in 2001.
He has been an active staff surgeon at Baptist Health Louisville since 2001 and Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana, since 2007. He currently serves as Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Program at Floyd Memorial Hospital and directs the BCS Aortic Surgery Program. He also served as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville until 2013. He has served as a cardiothoracic and aortic surgeon at Baptist Health Louisville, University of Louisville Hospital, Norton Hospital, Floyd Memorial Hospital, Audubon Hospital and Jewish Hospital.
Dr Pagni performs over 400 major operations annually. His areas of interest include complex valve surgery (including mitral valve repair), off pump coronary bypass, major thoracic aortic procedures, ventricular reconstruction, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and surgery for hypertrophic cardio myopathy.
He was honored with the “Best Outcomes” award for the Best Regional Cardiac Center-Louisville Area by US News & World Report from 2009-2013 (Cardiac Surgery) and Best Doctors of Louisville 2010-2014.
